Singer Psy will take the stage at the ‘80th Anniversary of Liberation Eve Festival: Korea Lives On!’ free of charge.
Tak Hyun Min, an event planning advisor to the National Assembly Speaker, revealed on the CBS radio program ‘Park Jae Hong’s Hanpan Seungbu’ (literal title meaning ‘One Final Match’) on the 12th, “Since it’s the eve of Liberation Day, I called Psy for the first time in three years to ask him to perform.”
Psy is currently on his nationwide ‘Summer Swag’ tour. “He usually doesn’t take on any other events during the tour,” Tak Hyun Min explained. “After I called, I felt like I might have pressured him, so I sent a message saying, ‘You don’t have to do it, so please don’t feel burdened.’”
But soon after, Psy called him back. “He said, ‘If you put it that way, how can I say no?’” Tak Hyun Min recalled, expressing his gratitude.
“What’s even more surprising,” Tak continued, “is that he said he wouldn’t take any payment. He’s not doing this for me personally or because it’s a commercial event, but as the one who first brought it up, I felt both sorry and thankful.”
