Harin, a Japanese model and actress who revealed that she was cut from the debut lineup of the girl group NewJeans, has addressed the recent attention surrounding her story.
On August 14, Harin posted a lengthy statement on her YouTube community, opening with: “I’m grateful for the sudden attention, but at the same time, I feel a bit concerned.”
She emphasized, “What I shared in the interview reflects a deeply personal feeling of disappointment and setback from my past. It was never intended to blame or expose any company or individual.” Harin added, “Although it was a difficult time for me, it was also an experience that made me stronger. I continue to support the members with whom I shared laughter and tears during that period.”
Earlier, on July 12, Harin appeared on the YouTube channel run by Japanese actor Hiromitsu Takeda, where she spoke about her time as an idol trainee. In the video, she recalled, “Just before debut, the company suddenly decided to end my contract. I was told I alone could not debut, and I had to return to Japan immediately.”
Born in 2003, Harin previously belonged to the Japanese idol group Akishibu Project. She joined Source Music under HYBE in 2020 through an audition and later transferred to ADOR, where she was part of the NewJeans debut lineup before being cut at the final stage.
Following the video’s release, Harin’s YouTube and social media accounts received both messages of support and some malicious comments, prompting her clarification.
She concluded her statement warmly: “Like the autumn breeze in the midst of summer, I will remain true to myself, Harin. I hope for your continued support in the future.”
Harin is currently focusing on her career as a model and actress.
