Actor Lee Ji Hoon, 46, has spoken out regarding recent domestic violence reports, clarifying that the incident stemmed from a simple marital argument and did not involve any assault.

A close associate of Lee Ji Hoon told Dispatch on August 14, “There was light physical contact during a dispute between the couple. After the police arrived and assessed the scene, it was determined that this was not a serious matter, and no assault occurred.”

Lee Ji Hoon and his wife have since reconciled. Lee Ji Hoon’s spouse has made it clear that she does not wish to pursue any charges, and the case is currently being closed,” the statement added. “Both Lee Ji Hoon and his spouse are reflecting on the incident and are remorseful.”

The police responded to a call on the afternoon of July 24 at Lee Ji Hoon’s apartment in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province. At the time, the actor and his wife were engaged in a verbal argument, and Lee Ji Hoon reportedly attempted to leave the residence.

A brief scuffle occurred when his wife tried to prevent him from leaving. Following the police investigation, Lee Ji Hoon was questioned on suspicion of assault. However, it was confirmed that his wife did not wish to press charges. In South Korea, assault is a “non-prosecutable offense without the victim’s consent,” meaning the case cannot proceed without the victim’s intent to pursue legal action. The police classified the matter as a domestic protection case.

If the prosecution decides not to indict, the case is closed. Should the prosecution refer the case to the court, the court would conduct a closed hearing, potentially imposing protective measures such as community service or restraining orders, or dismissing the case.

Lee Ji Hoon debuted as a KBS 20th batch actor in 2003 and has appeared in numerous films and dramas, often in supporting roles. His film credits include 'Chronicle of a Blood Merchant' (2015), 'The Merciless' (2017), 'I Can Speak' (2017), 'Honey Sweet' (2023), 'The Roundup: No Way Out 3' (2023), and 'The Roundup: Punishment 4' (2024). His television appearances include 'Sassy Girl Chun-hyang' (2005), 'Bread, Love and Dreams' (2010), 'The Queen of Office' (2013), 'Hospital Playlist 2' (2021), 'New Recruit Season 2' (2023), 'Korea–Khitan War' (2023), and 'A Killer Paradox' (2024).
