Disney+ has officially confirmed the release date for its new original series 'The Murky Stream,' starring Rowoon and Shin Ye Eun. The platform announced on August 25 that the series will premiere on September 26, unveiling both a teaser poster and trailer alongside the news.
'The Murky Stream' is set in Joseon, during a time when the once-clear Gyeong River has turned into a murky stream symbolizing a lawless era. The drama follows the struggles of people fighting to live with dignity in a corrupt world. Notably, this marks Disney+’s first-ever original historical series.
The project brings together director Choo Chang Min, best known for the film 'Masquerade,' and screenwriter Chun Sung Il, who is making a long-awaited return to the historical drama genre 14 years after 'The Slave Hunters.' The cast includes Rowoon, Shin Ye Eun, Park Seo Ham, and Park Ji Hwan.
The newly released trailer offers a glimpse into the drama’s central characters: Jang Si Yul, who dreams of a world where people can live like human beings; Choi Eun, who aspires to lead Joseon’s greatest trading guild with unshakable conviction; Jung Cheon, a government official determined to eradicate corruption; and Mu Deok, a gang leader maintaining order at Mapo Port.
'The Murky Stream' will be available exclusively on Disney+, beginning with the release of episodes 1 to 3 on September 26. Two new episodes will be released weekly thereafter, culminating in a total of nine episodes.
