Singer Shinji and her fiancé Moon Won have reportedly completed their families’ formal meeting in preparation for their upcoming marriage. Despite being aware of public skepticism surrounding the relationship, Shinji is said to be determined to move forward with her decision.

On July 7, former entertainment reporter and YouTuber Lee Jin Ho shared a video where he revealed Shinji’s mindset regarding her controversial engagement. Shinji believes the criticism surrounding her marriage is something she has to endure,” Lee said.

Citing a source close to Shinji, Lee explained that she anticipated negative reactions from the start. “She knew there would be opposition because it’s her first marriage, while her fiancé has a daughter and is getting remarried. On top of that, his career isn't well-established,” he noted. “However, she didn’t expect the backlash to be this intense, almost at a national level.”

Lee elaborated on Shinji’s decision to announce the marriage directly via YouTube, stating, Moon Won’s divorce history was already known among their close friends. But if it were to be exposed through the media, it could have caused irreparable damage to their public image. That’s why Shinji likely chose to speak up first.”

However, Lee pointed out that Shinji may not have anticipated the controversy Moon Won's demeanor in the video would spark. “She tried to present things positively, but didn’t expect Moon Won to come across as dismissive or awkward. Still, she is fully embracing him with love.”

Lee added, “How can you stop two people who love each other? If Moon Won had a criminal record or was involved in illegal activities, of course people should object—but that’s not the case here.” Despite the criticism, the couple appears set to proceed with their wedding. “They’ve already had their formal family gathering,” Lee confirmed. “Even Shinji’s Koyote bandmates, Bbaekga and Kim Jong Min, are supporting the marriage.”

Shinji and Moon Won initially shared their engagement news on YouTube in a gathering with Koyote members. During the announcement, Moon Won’s divorce history was publicly disclosed—shocking Bbaekga, who reportedly left the room in disbelief.

Moon Won’s remarks during the video also drew criticism. Viewers took issue with him saying, “I didn’t know Shinji was such a great singer and celebrity,” and with his casual comment about Kim Jong Min’s age, which many felt was inappropriate.

The video attracted numerous comments speculating about Moon Won’s past, including allegations of violence during his military service, bullying during his school years, and the circumstances surrounding his previous marriage.

In response, Moon Won denied the allegations. “The claims that I bullied schoolmates or fellow soldiers are completely untrue. While it’s true that I married my ex-wife following a premarital pregnancy, I did not cheat during that time,” he stated.
