The band DAY6 has come under fire after reportedly demanding excessive personal information from fans during their recent fanmeeting. In response, the group’s agency has announced a refund policy and issued a second official apology.
On the 23rd KST, JYP Entertainment released a statement on its official website:
“We sincerely apologize to the fans who experienced inconvenience due to the excessive identity verification procedures during entry to the 'DAY6 4TH FANMEETING' performance.”
JYP Entertainment explained that refunds will be issued to ticket holders for the first week (Rounds 1 to 3) of the DAY6 fanmeeting, if the original purchaser was denied entry due to excessive ID verification at the venue. Refunds will only be processed for tickets that were not scanned for admission. Tickets confirmed as resold and scanned on-site will not be eligible for refunds.
The agency added that the refund will include the full ticket price along with the delivery fee.
“We once again deeply apologize for the inconvenience and concern caused to fans affected by the operational policies at the event,” the statement continued. “We recognize the seriousness of the issue and will strive to improve and prevent recurrence.”
The fanmeeting took place from February 18th to 20th at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Songpa-gu, Seoul. Leading up to the performances, numerous complaints had surfaced online regarding the overly strict ID checks, prompting widespread criticism.
As the backlash grew, JYP Entertainment issued an initial apology on the 21st via official channels, stating:
“The identity verification procedures implemented for this event were intended to distinguish between genuine attendees and those involved in illegal ticket resales. However, we failed to respond flexibly and did not properly uphold our management responsibilities in this case.”
The agency further added:
“We fully acknowledge our responsibility and will ensure that individuals’ privacy is protected and that no unjust collection of personal information occurs in the future.”
