Singer Tei, who operates a handmade burger restaurant generating nearly 1 billion KRW (approximately 720,000 USD) in annual revenue, appeared on MBC’s 'Radio Star' on June 4 to share the story behind his viral parody song “Gae-ggul Song” and clarify a widely misunderstood remark.

The episode featured guests In Gyojin, Ji Seunghyun, Tei, and Heo Kyunghwan.

Tei addressed the phrase “Being a celebrity is gae-ggul (super sweet),” which sparked debate online. He explained, “What I meant was that doing what you love is the best. That phrase got picked up during a variety show appearance, and Yoo Seyoon turned it into a song,” sharing the lighthearted backstory of how the parody came to life.

He also discussed his recent remake of Min Kyunghoon’s 'Monologue', and recounted how singing covers of other artists’ songs unexpectedly led to a resurgence in his popularity. During the show, he performed a medley of hits from his Your Song, My Song series, showcasing his status as a master of remakes.

Tei then revealed his unique food philosophy. “Pork belly and fried chicken are just side dishes,” he joked. “I’ve eaten up to nine bowls of rice when dining out.” At home, he added, he often eats two large bowls of rice and finishes two whole chickens by himself — highlighting his impressive mukbang stamina.

Tei even praised DAY6 member Young K as a next-generation mukbang star. “Our eating pace is in sync. We don’t eat like food fighters — we savor every bite slowly,” he said, sharing a fun anecdote about their shared love of real meals.
