Netizens reacted to an answer that BTS gave when asked about military service.
Just a few days ago, BTS sat down with 'CBS' in the U.S. to talk about their recent feats and upcoming tour activities. During the interview, the unavoidable topic of mandatory military service came up, to which 'CBS' described as being "up in the air" as the boy are only "allowed to enjoy their run" until that point in time.
To this topic, the oldest member Jin answered, "as a Korean, it's natural. And someday when duty calls, we'll be ready to respond and do our best." According to another Korean-to-English translation, he had remarked, "I am ready to come running whenever the country calls for me". This response was soon followed by RM, who added, "We just enjoy the ride, live in the moment, and that's all we can do."
Though it is mandatory, the members currently have a delayed entry, and disputed talks of possible military exemption have surfaced in the past. However, the members' way of facing the question directly brought positive reactions from South Korean netizens who applauded them for their simple and unambiguous answer.
The comments read:
"It feels like I just got a punch to the head.....wow seriously T___T"
"If you guys are ready, then I'll be ready too T___T"
".....BTS protects the country, ARMY protects BTS...."
"They are right....even my mother tells me that BTS members have an upright moral character"
"Our BTS, if you guys are healthy, you should go T____T"
"Does that company (Big Hit Entertainment) check their moral compasses before they let them enter? Their characters are...so cool!"
"It was so annoying to read for months how some people would threateningly write on the internet -- 'you guys better fulfill your service in the military ^^'; yes, our kids will obviously decide go even before you guys nag. How satisfying it is for them to refer to this themselves!!!'
BTS' full interview with 'CBS Sunday Morning' will be broadcast on April 21.
