Popular movie reviewer gives a harsh critique of Jisoo's acting in 'Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy'

A popular movie review YouTuber has stirred a heated debate with his sharp criticism of BLACKPINK's Jisoo in the recently released film 'Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy.' The movie, adapted from the globally popular webnovel 'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint' by SingShong, which boasted over 200 million views and a successful webtoon adaptation of the same title, was one of the most anticipated releases this year.

However, the film faced backlash from fans of the original story following the premiere. Many expressed disappointment over the adaptation, noting that crucial background details were omitted to fit the film's runtime, and also lacked depth, leaving it feeling like a "shallow action flick" without the extensive source material details.

Another focal point of criticism was Jisoo's acting. Although Jisoo made brief screentime appearances, viewers described her delivery as awkward and unconvincing, with some saying it disrupted the immersion of the film.

The movie review YouTuber even recently devoted a significant portion of his review to this issue, claiming that Jisoo's poor articulation and lack of improvement over the years were major factors in the movie's failure to resonate with audiences.

His critique hit especially hard because he had previously defended Jisoo during her acting debut in the drama 'Snowdrop.' At the time, he dismissed harsh comments about her performance, attributing any weaknesses to inexperience and praising her expressive potential. Four years later, however, his tone changed dramatically, stating that as a fan, he felt compelled to offer “constructive criticism” in hopes she would improve.

Her acting is so bad
It destroys the film’s immersive experience.

The YouTuber’s comments have ignited a heated online debate. Some netizens agreed with his assessment, saying they too had noticed little to no improvement in Jisoo’s acting. Others argued and questioned his qualifications to criticize Jisoo.

They commented:

"This YouTuber consistently defended Jisoo's acting in the past. He would say, 'She was a rookie, so it's understandable.' But then, I think he exploded out of frustration because she has shown absolutely no improvement."
"Fans of Jisoo are way too overprotective. I wonder if they realize that Jisoo has been more noticed for the luxury outfits she wears than her singing."
"Even the fans probably know it, they just won't admit it."
"It’s sad to see capable and passionate rookie actors lose roles because of incompetent connections like her."
"If there’s no improvement, it’d be better not to act at all. Why keep trying?"
"But is this YouTuber even qualified to criticize her acting?"
"I'm a fan of Jisoo. But honestly, her acting is bad. I haven't been able to watch her stuff for more than 5 minutes."
"I really love Blackpink, but I wish Jisoo would practice acting more. Her positive personality seems to hold her back. Ignoring hate comments is fine, but constantly being criticized for acting isn’t okay."
"In the movie, it was obvious she was the only person who couldn't act."
"Even her pretty face now seems like a nuisance because of her bad acting. Should she practice acting? How long will she rely on her looks? Directors, please stop casting her."
"Leaving aside whether Jisoo’s acting is bad or not, I don’t understand this YouTuber either. He said he felt insulted watching Jisoo act because he had worked in acting before, but he hasn’t achieved anything in acting himself and only does movie reviews on YouTube. How does he have the right to feel insulted? Lol. To me, he seems just like that YouTuber who criticized Jang Won Young and got sued."
"Even as a BLACKPINK fan, this is really sad. Did she really practice her acting?"
"I’ve been a fan since her debut, but I haven’t watched her act for more than 30 minutes. I’ve turned off the screen multiple times because I just couldn’t."
"I'll take this YouTuber's critique seriously when he reveals his face."
"What this YouTuber said is true. I watched the movie as soon as it came out… Jisoo’s acting really made it hard to get into the movie…"
