Fans praise Nam Woohyun’s interesting and fun concert concepts

INFINITE’s Nam Woohyun is earning positive feedback for the interesting and fun concepts that he himself is personally involved in creating. Ahead of his “Arbor Day 5 – Tree High School” concert to be held on August 16-17 in Seoul, teasers revealed Woohyun will play both sides of the classroom: teacher on Day 1 (with fans playing the students) and student on Day 2, an idea fans say “fits him perfectly.” 

The 'tree' concept is derived from his beloved nickname, "Namu" (short for Nam-Woo), which means tree in Korean. His concert series is called Arbor Day, once again playing with the "tree" theme. 

What’s making the praise even louder is the sense that Woohyun isn’t just the face of these stages - he has mentioned to fans that he, in fact, comes up with the concepts and brings them to life with the help of his team.

This follows last year’s “Arbor Day 4 – TREE WORLD,” which unfolded like a tiny multiverse: Woohyun appeared as a “Millennial (Millennium) Idol” from one Earth 2 on Day 1 and a “Maestro” from Earth 8 on Day 2, then carried those personas through overseas stops. Korean entertainment press repeatedly pointed out the parallel-world framing, and local outlets documented how the concept evolved as the tour traveled to Taipei, Hong Kong, and Kuala Lumpur. 

His knack for immersive themes extends beyond concerts. Previous fanmeetings have seen Woohyun running an imaginary hotel as the quirky “owner” at "Secret Hotel Namu" Fanmeeting in 2023 and spearheading “Namu Company” where he played multiple characters - from the CEO to various eccentric employees, at "Namu Company New Year Workshop" fanmeeting in 2022. 

He introduced five distinct alter egos:

1. Star Nam Woo Hyun: A legendary K-pop idol with a deep love for his fans.

2. CEO Nam Dalla: A self-made business icon striving to stay relevant with modern trends.

3. Chief Nam: An ambitious individual aiming for the top spot.

4. Assistant Manager Nam: A dedicated worker with a penchant for following and mentoring junior employees.

5. Employee Nam: A passionate rookie eager to learn and grow.

Not only Woohyun, but fans also take on various roles, such as during the Namu Company fan meeting, fans were all employees at Namu Company. 

These concepts also play into the VCRs shown during the shows, and recurring appearances have been made by beloved characters, such as 'Nam Manager'. Fans are already excited for the sold-out Tree High School, which can be viewed via live online streaming through Fromm.
