[Drama Review] 'She Was Pretty' - Episode 8

Siwon, Hwang Jung Eum, Park Seo Joon, Go Jun Hee
A lot of things happened on the eighth episode of 'She Was Pretty,' which is not too surprising, considering that this is the drama's official halfway mark.

Ha Ri finally comes out and confesses her feelings to Sung Joon, telling him that she no longer wants to be just his friend but something more. Sung Joon responds appropriately by remaining a stone statue, rendered speechless by 'Hye Jin's abrupt confession. Girl, he just not that into youuuuuu. Especially if this is the expression that he wears when you tell him that you like him:

I want to disappear so badly right now...

Shin Hyuk, having caught Sung Joon and Ha Ri red handed k-i-s-s-i-n-g in the park, puts two and two together, realizing that Ha Ri is Hye Jin's best friend pursuing Sung Joon under a false identity: Hye Jin's. Shin Hyuk senses big danger ahead and warns Ha Ri to put an end to her pretenses immediately. The only way for all three of them--Sung Joon, Hye Jin, and Ha Ri--to come out relatively unharmed out of this whole mess is for Ha Ri to confess to her crimes. But will she heed his words, that is the question. I'm thinking, a big, fat NO. At least, I don't think she will come clean until much, much later.

After seeing this hair, Park Seo Joon be like,

how do I achieve that perfect volume

At this point, Sung Joon is beyond baffled because he has no clue why he is continuously drawn to Hye Jin. He even throws a full-blown b*tch fit at Hye Jin in the middle of work (how professional...)because he couldn't properly control his emotions. He even goes so far as to fire Hye Jin for something that she didn't even do. Yes, I get that there is pressure from the big boss but that's no excuse to take it out on your underlings! Talk about doing 'the most'.....

Besides, I don't know why Sung Joon is feeling so guilty and confused about his feelings towards Hye Jin. Helloooooooo, it's not a crime to like someone. You don't need to feel the obligation to continue seeing the fake 'Hye Jin' just because she was your childhood love. You are not doing anyone a favor, especially not yourself. You are wasting your time, the fake 'Hye Jin's time, and you certainly don't need to agonize so painfully over something that's not even that big of a deal. So what if that weird, goofy intern girl reminds you more of the Hye Jin from childhood? This isn't something that serious.

did anyone else scoff at how dramatic this scene was?

ehm, do you wanna get run over again

So now, thanks to Sung Joon's ego, everyone at 'The Most' is missing the intern that they pushed all their dirty work and petty errands to. Not to mention, it was that same intern who thought of a fresh idea that could work for the magazine's 20th anniversary edition. Shin Hyuk, who is missing his beloved 'Jjacksen' the most out of everyone (besides possibly Sung Joon) confronts the editor and suggests bringing Hye Jin back on the team. Sung Joon isn't too keen on the recommendation at first, but he ends up groveling at Hye Jin's feet.

Revenge is sweet.

However, Sung Joon's sweet groveling wasn't enough to bring Hye Jin back to 'The Most.' It was actually Hye Jin's phone call with her father which made her decide that she must got back, for the sake of her family.

..Jja..Jjacksen..?? Is that you???

I don't want Jjacksen to be my little sister anymore.
