On the night of January 28th, a fire broke out on an Air Busan plane bound for Hong Kong as it prepared for takeoff at Gimhae Airport.
According to fire authorities, all 176 people onboard, including 169 passengers and 7 crew members, were safely evacuated.
Three of the evacuees sustained injuries, but none are reported to be in life-threatening condition.
The fire department stated that they received a report of flames at the upper rear section of the aircraft at 10:26 PM. The airport’s fire suppression team arrived on the scene at 10:34 PM, eight minutes after the report, and began extinguishing the fire.
At 10:38 PM, four minutes later, the fire authorities issued a Level 1 response, mobilizing additional firefighting resources from nearby areas to assist in the operation.
A fire official commented, “At this stage, we believe the fire originated inside the aircraft. All 176 people onboard are presumed to have evacuated, but a thorough search of the plane is ongoing as a precaution.”
