According to The Hollywood Reporter India, director Hwang Dong Hyuk of 'Squid Game' has begun casting for his next project, a Netflix original film.
Attending the 'Asian Film Awards in Hong Kong' this past weekend, Hwang Dong Hyuk dished a few details on his highly-anticipated next work following the successful conclusion of 'Squid Game' in June of last year.
Titled 'KO Club' ('Killing Old People Club'), the director's new film takes inspiration from an essay titled "How Old People Survive", written by an Italian novelist Umberto Eco in 2011. The essay points to widening tensions between young and old generations and proposes the removal of the elderly who occupy top positions in society.
Director Hwang told The Hollywood Reporter India that the movie is "basically about killing old people", and that he is currently working simultaneously on the script and the casting. Pre-production is scheduled to begin this fall, before filming begins next year.
What do you think of the premise of 'KO Club' so far?
