Actor Lee Yi Kyung, who recently stepped down from 'Hangout with Yoo' amid controversy over his private life, is set to resume his entertainment activities with a radio appearance.
According to OSEN on February 7, Lee Yi Kyung will appear as a special DJ on the February 12 broadcast of SBS PowerFM’s 'Cultwo Show.'
The actor is currently embroiled in rumors related to his private life. A woman identifying herself as German, referred to as A, previously released alleged conversations she claimed to have had with Lee Yi Kyung on October 20. A alleged that the two exchanged sexually explicit messages and further claimed that some expressions implied sexual assault, escalating the controversy. She later revealed what she said was her main account and insisted her motive was not financial gain but to expose the actor’s character.
In response, Lee Yi Kyung’s side announced firm legal action and disclosed additional information related to A, continuing to refute the claims. His representatives stated that “there was no form of settlement.” Lee Yi Kyung also shared that he had completed questioning as the complainant and submitted his stance regarding the rumors, adding that he had filed complaints on charges including blackmail and defamation based on false information. He stated he would pursue legal action even internationally if necessary.
A, who continued posting revelations and counterclaims, said that while their conversations began on good terms, the messages gradually became more explicit. On December 12, she released what she said were initial messages, and on December 31, she posted images she claimed were from Lee Yi Kyung’s KakaoTalk profile along with photos she said she had received.
Lee Yi Kyung also addressed the issue publicly. After winning the 'AAA Best Choice award' at the 'Asia Artist Awards,' he stated, “The suspect is currently sending apologies and requests for leniency to the company email. I believe they will be caught.”
Due to the controversy, Lee Yi Kyung stepped down from 'Hangout with Yoo' and other variety programs he had been appearing on. However, he continued activities on shows such as 'I'm Solo,' 'Trouble Travel,' and 'Brave Detectives,' though he had not taken on new variety appearances. His upcoming role as a special MC on 'Cultwo Show' will mark a new broadcast engagement during this period.
Meanwhile, SBS PowerFM’s 'Cultwo Show,' where Lee Yi Kyung will serve as special MC, airs daily from 2 PM to 4 PM KST.
