The controversy surrounding broadcaster Jo Se Ho’s alleged ties to organized crime has entered a new phase, as comedian and longtime friend Kim Ju-ho publicly refuted the claims.
On December 22, a video titled “We Visited the So-Called Gang-Linked Company Accused of Money Laundering” was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Jangsa ui Sin'. In the video, Kim Ju Ho—who lived with Jo Se-ho for eight years since their college days—addressed the rumors directly, stating that the allegations were based on misinformation.

Kim explained that photos circulating online, which were cited as evidence of Jo Se Ho’s alleged connection to a gang leader identified as “A,” had been widely misinterpreted. According to Kim, one of the individuals labeled as a gangster in the photos was actually a high school student working part-time at his restaurant.
“The student was temporarily helping out as a part-time worker to learn about the business,” Kim said, adding that the individual is now receiving psychiatric treatment due to the stress caused by false accusations.

Kim further clarified that while he was introduced to A through industry events, the relationship was neither close nor business-related, noting that they had not met in over five to six years. He also strongly denied claims that his restaurant and online shopping mall were used as channels for illegal money laundering, citing minimal monthly sales and the absence of outside investors.
The fallout from the rumors has been significant. Kim revealed that his business has suffered a 30–40% drop in revenue following the reports, leading to operating losses. He also expressed concern over the impact on his family and employees.
Meanwhile, Jo Se Ho has stepped down from his appearances on major television programs, including tvN’s 'You Quiz on the Block' and KBS2’s '2 Days & 1 Night', amid the ongoing controversy.
As conflicting claims continue to surface, public attention remains focused on whether the allegations against Jo Se Ho will hold up under further scrutiny.
