Broadcast personality Park Mi Sun opened up about her battle with breast cancer and shared an unfiltered look into her treatment and daily life through her YouTube channel.
On November 28th, Park Mi Sun uploaded a video titled ‘[Healing Cancer Diary-1] Becoming a Patient Overnight’ on her YouTube channel, I'am Park Mi Sun.' The video documents her real treatment journey following her breast cancer diagnosis in December 2024 and the start of chemotherapy in January 2025.
At the beginning of the video, Park Mi Sun said, “I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2024, and I began chemotherapy in January 2025. I decided to record the journey in hopes it would give strength to other patients and be of some help.” She then showed the chemotherapy port that was inserted to protect her veins during treatment and explained, “When you are injected with chemotherapy drugs, your veins can deteriorate.”
She continued, “I am still okay for now. I still have an appetite. I have not received the treatment yet,” sharing her calm but honest feelings ahead of her first round of chemotherapy. Calling the meal before treatment her “last supper,” she tried to enjoy the moment while keeping her characteristic sense of humor.
After completing her first round, Park Mi Sun said, “Thankfully, because I received the treatment at the hospital and took various medications, I feel alright so far. I still have some appetite. I am just a bit dizzy, and my blood pressure dropped slightly, but overall I am okay.”
The video also captured her efforts to maintain a normal routine. She took walks with her daughter and visited a book café to read. “I do not feel too bad today, so I am walking around the neighborhood. Although it's only the first round, my appetite is still okay, and the medication seems to be working well for me. I heard that this is not very common,” she said with a smile. However, there were difficult moments as well. After reacting poorly to a medication, she admitted, “I thought I was dying yesterday, but since my stomach does not hurt today, I think I will live.”
By day nine of chemotherapy, she appeared more energetic as she enjoyed coffee and a movie. “Now I am going home to play games. Today I feel great. Two or three days before the second round of chemo is when my body feels the best. Just when I start feeling alive again, I go back in and feel like I am dying. My voice has come back,” she said with a laugh.
Throughout the video, her family stayed close by her side. Her daughter looked after her carefully between hospital visits, and her husband Lee Bong Won cooked for her and took photos as he supported her through recovery. Their presence and small acts of care highlighted Park Mi Sun’s resilience and warmth even in the middle of treatment.
Toward the end of the video, Park Mi Sun said, “My second round of chemotherapy starts on Monday. If I fall or get hurt, I will not be able to continue treatment, so I am trying to be careful at home.” Her words showed her determination to stay safe and strong.
Meanwhile, Park Mi Sun, who stepped away from broadcasting for nearly a year due to treatment, recently appeared on tvN’s 'You Quiz on the Block,' where she shared her long-awaited update and received messages of support.
