Comedian Park Mi Sun opened up about her heartfelt decision to appear on 'You Quiz on the Block'.
On the morning of November 12 KST, Park Mi Sun shared on her personal social media, “I thought about it so much—whether I should go on or not, whether I should wear a wig or not,” she began.
She continued, “But since so many people were worried and curious, I decided to gather up my courage and do the show. It’s my one and only schedule this year, haha. I talked about various things on today’s episode of 'You Quiz', but since it’s been a while since I did a broadcast, I was a little nervous.”
Park added warmly, “Anyway, thank you to everyone who’s been concerned for me.”
In the episode aired the same day, Park Mi Sun appeared with a short-cropped hairstyle, radiating her trademark humor and strength. Host Yoo Jae Suk greeted her, saying, “I’ve really missed you. It’s so good to see our beloved sister Park Mi Sun back looking healthy.” Smiling brightly, she replied, “I think a lot of people will be surprised to see me like this. It’s quite a bold look—I came out bravely,” eliciting laughter.
Explaining her reason for appearing on the show, Park said, “There were so many fake news stories going around that I came out to report that I’m alive.”
When Yoo Jae Suk gently mentioned her battle with breast cancer, Park became emotional as she recalled, “I was planning to start radiation treatment after filming, but when they opened me up… this is the first time I’m sharing this.” She briefly paused, holding back tears, then lightened the mood by joking, “Don’t I look like Furiosa when I shaved my head? It’s okay, you can laugh.”
When asked how she felt upon receiving the diagnosis, Park admitted, “It didn’t feel real. Even now, my energy hasn’t completely come back.”
She added, “I can’t use the word ‘fully recovered’ for my type of breast cancer. I was even hospitalized for pneumonia and treated with antibiotics for two weeks. My face was so swollen, but I endured it because it was all part of staying alive.”
Despite her hardships, Park Mi Sun’s positivity and resilience shone through. “I’m thankful even for being sick in winter, and for being able to receive treatment in a cool place during summer. With that kind of mindset, I actually felt joyful throughout the process,” she shared.
She concluded by expressing heartfelt gratitude: “So many people showed concern and sent messages of comfort. Being sick made me realize just how much love I’ve received.”
