Seventeen’s Hoshi successfully completed his basic military training and expressed heartfelt gratitude to fans for their unwavering support throughout his enlistment.

On October 29, Hoshi greeted fans for the first time since joining the military through a post on Seventeen’s official fan platform, Weverse.

“Salute! Private Kwon Soon Young here. Hello, Carats! I have completed my basic training safely,” he began, marking his first official message to fans since enlistment.

“I really missed you all during training,” Hoshi continued. “The letters you sent gave me so much strength. Many of them began with, ‘I don’t know if this letter will reach you or if you’ll be able to read it…’ But every single one of those messages touched my heart. I could feel your sincerity, warmth, and kindness in every word, and it moved me deeply each time I read them.”

He added, “Thanks to you, I was able to stay strong and complete my training. I’ll continue to do my best and serve diligently while thinking of Carats. Thank you,” ending his message with a salute emoji. In the photo shared alongside the message, Hoshi appears in uniform, exuding confidence and composure with a more mature look.

Hoshi enlisted on September 16 and, after completing his basic military training, will continue his active-duty service in the Army. Before his enlistment, he remained highly active in his musical career, beginning with BSS’s second single album 'TELEPARTY,' followed by the unit Hoshi X Woozi’s first single album 'BEAM,' and Seventeen’s fifth full-length album 'HAPPY BURSTDAY,' further expanding his musical spectrum. During July and August, Hoshi and Woozi held fan concerts across five cities, drawing over 100,000 attendees across 11 performances.

Even on the day of his enlistment, Hoshi showed his deep affection for fans by releasing his solo track “TAKE A SHOT” and donating 100 million KRW (approximately 70,200 USD) to the Gyeonggi Northern Community Chest of Korea’s 'Love Fruit' campaign. His donation will go toward the construction and renovation of classrooms at Mansasah Public School in Ndola, Zambia.

Since his debut in 2015, Hoshi has consistently demonstrated a spirit of generosity and positive influence. In 2021, he donated 100 million KRW (approximately 70,200 USD) to join the Honor Society, a group of major individual donors contributing over 100 million KRW (approximately 70,200 USD) . He has also actively participated in relief efforts for disaster recovery and supported marginalized communities, children, and youth.

Seventeen as a group continues to amplify this positive impact. The group was appointed as UNESCO’s first-ever Goodwill Ambassadors for Youth among K-pop artists and has raised a global fund of 1.37 billion KRW (approximately 980,000 USD) to support young people around the world.
