Seventeen's The8 dropped a surprise track that he composed himself.
On August 29, The8 released his new track "Star Crossing Night" through Soda Music, a music platform under China's Douyin.
"Star Crossing Night" reflects on memories of falling in love, with the lyrics written from a first-person narrative perspective. The8 revealed he drew inspiration from the night sky and shooting stars, personally writing and composing the song.
Chinese rapper Gali, who placed third on iQIYI’s 'Rap of China 2020,' features on the track, adding a dreamlike quality that blends with The8’s vocals.
This new project was created in collaboration with several global brands, including Douyin in China and the UK magazine 'Wonderland.' A music film in the form of conceptual shorts is also scheduled for release. For international listeners, "Star Crossing Night" will be available on major music platforms starting August 30.
Beyond group activities, The8 has steadily built his solo discography with Chinese digital singles such as "Dreams Come True," "Falling Down," "Side by Side," and "Meteor." Last year, he dropped his first Chinese EP 'STARDUST,' for which he received full credit as songwriter and composer, showcasing his talent as a singer-songwriter.
Alongside the release of his new song, The8 is set to perform as a headliner at the 'YJ Music Festival' in Beijing on September 20–21.
