
Veteran actor Choi Min Shik and rising star Han So Hee have officially been cast as the leads in the Korean adaptation of 'The Intern,' directed by Kim Do Young. According to the Korean Film Council's official website, the production is currently in the pre-shoot stage and is scheduled to begin filming next month.
Han So Hee will play the role of Jules Ostin, originally portrayed by Anne Hathaway in the 2015 Hollywood version directed by Nancy Meyers. In the film, she takes on the role of the ambitious CEO of a successful online fashion startup that grew rapidly within just one year of its launch.
Choi Min Shik has been cast as Ben Whittaker, a character originally played by Robert De Niro. He portrays a 70-year-old senior intern who brings wisdom, warmth, and a steady presence to the workplace, serving as a thoughtful mentor to the young CEO.
The Korean version stays true to the heartwarming tone of the original, which attracted over 3.6 million viewers in South Korea during its theatrical release. 'The Intern' is a heartwarming comedy that follows the unexpected bond between a driven young CEO in her thirties and a retired senior who starts working at her company as an intern.
Choi Min Shik is also set to appear in 'Heaven: To the Land of Happiness,' 'No Other Choice,' and the drama 'Notes from the Last Row.' Han So Hee will return to the big screen in the upcoming film 'Project Y.'
