Netflix has released its ambitious R-rated Korean series 'Trigger' on July 25 at 4 PM KST. With a production budget of around 30 billion KRW (approx. $22 million), the 10-part action-disaster thriller has drawn major attention ahead of its premiere.
Set in a fictional South Korea where gun ownership is illegal, 'Trigger' explores the chaos that unfolds when untraceable firearms are mysteriously delivered to ordinary citizens. The series is directed and co-written by Kwon Oh Sung ('Midnight'), with Kim Jae Hoon as co-director.

Kim Nam Gil and Kim Young Kwang lead a strong cast including Park Hoon, Kil Hae Yeon, and Kim Won Hae. Kim Nam Gil plays Lee Do, a former sniper turned police officer, while Kim Young Kwang stars as the enigmatic Moon Baek.
Director Kwon explained the concept stems from imagining how Korean society might respond if guns were suddenly made available. Co-director Kim Jae Hoon described the series as a story of individuals driven by hatred, those who enable violence, and those trying to stop it.

Ahead of its release, Netflix screened the first four episodes to media, receiving praise for its suspense and addictive pacing. Viewers responded positively to preview clips, praising the cast and calling it "a must-watch for summer."

The show was briefly caught in controversy following a real-life shooting incident in Incheon, leading to the cancellation of a fan event. Director Kwon expressed sympathy for the tragedy but emphasized that the show carries a clear anti-violence message and should be viewed separately from real-world events.
'Trigger' is now streaming globally on Netflix.
