Actress Lee Si Young recently shared an emotional moment as she opened up about her post-divorce pregnancy, revealing the fear and loneliness she experienced while making a life-changing decision.
On July 9, a video titled 'Lee Si Young's Tarot Reading, Where She Bets Her Soul?' was uploaded to comedian Lee Yong Jin’s YouTube channel. In the video, Lee Si Young nervously participated in a tarot card reading, keeping her question to herself and choosing to hold it silently in her heart.
As Lee Yong Jin interpreted the cards, he reassured her: “There’s no need to worry. It’s okay. If you hesitate, things could go wrong. You should go for it.” Visibly emotional, Lee Si Young replied, “Thank you so much.” While Lee Yong Jin expressed curiosity about her question, she remained silent. Overcome with emotion, she said, “It was something I was struggling with alone. You’re amazing. I feel like crying.”
Lee Yong Jin continued, “Others don’t think the way you do. You’re being too passive. There’s no need to worry,” to which Lee Si Young reflected, “Maybe I really was just too scared.”
She went on to draw one more card, asking how things would unfold in the future regarding her question. Lee Yong Jin responded, “Making this decision will lead to better outcomes. You’ll feel more at peace. It’ll be good for you.” Lee Si Young, still holding back the specifics, concluded, “This question really satisfied me. Lee Si Young, who married in 2017 and has one son, confirmed earlier this year that she had divorced after eight years of marriage. Then, on July 8, she surprised the public by announcing that she was pregnant with her second child. She explained that she had used a frozen embryo from a previous IVF procedure, originally planned during her marriage.
In her statement, Lee Si Young shared: “During my marriage, we prepared for a second child through IVF. However, the fertilized embryo remained frozen for a long time, and conversations about divorce gradually began. As all legal matters were being finalized, the embryo’s five-year storage limit was nearing its end. With the disposal deadline approaching, I made the decision to proceed with the implantation myself.”
Her decision has drawn mixed reactions. While many expressed support for her autonomy and bravery, some raised concerns over her having made the decision without her ex-husband’s consent.
In an interview with Dispatch, Lee Si Young’s ex-husband acknowledged his disagreement with the second pregnancy but said: “Even though I was against it, the child now exists. I’ll take responsibility as a father.”
