ITZY revealed that the group is currently in contract renewal discussions with JYP Entertainment.
On June 9, ITZY held a press conference at the Sofitel Ambassador Seoul in Songpa-gu to commemorate the release of their new mini album 'Girls Will Be Girls.'
The album features five tracks: the title track "Girls Will Be Girls," "Kiss & Tell," "Locked N Loaded," "Promise," and "Walk." The title song is a dynamic dance track that stands out with its bold beat and expansive vocal harmonies. The lyrics express the group’s heartfelt resolve: “If we can be together, that alone is enough. We’ll gladly hold your hand and move forward together.”
The album gained early attention thanks to its trailer, directed by renowned commercial director Yoo Kwang Goong. JYP producer J.Y. Park also appeared in the trailer, adding further anticipation. Member Ryujin explained, “We wanted to convey the message of solidarity. As we grow up, we sometimes lose that spark in our hearts, and we tried to reflect that while also showing the process of solving problems by supporting one another.”
On why they chose “solidarity” as the central theme of the album, Yeji shared, “We thought this could be a great way to show the strong teamwork we've built, and we hoped people would appreciate the friendship we share.”
The members showcased their tight bond and affection for one another. Reflecting on her solo activities, Yeji said, “While preparing for this comeback with the members, I realized how much more precious it is to work as a group than alone. Our bond has grown stronger over time, and I can really feel how much we rely on each other.”

Yuna added, “The five of us move as one body. That unity becomes our driving force when we set a goal and run toward it together.”
2026 will be the group's 7th year since debut and ITZY is facing the prospect of their contract renewal. Chaeryeong commented, “It still feels surreal that we’re even talking about contract renewal, but we’re currently coordinating things with the company. We’ll do our best to bring you good news.”
Regardless of the outcome, the members are determined to actively pursue both group and solo projects. Ryujin stated, “We look up to our seniors who have continued their careers with strong teamwork. We’ve always told ourselves to stay grounded and keep going until the end.”
On their artistic direction moving forward, Yeji shared, “Just like our debut captured our ‘teen crush’ concept naturally, our music continues to reflect our evolving selves. Going forward, when powerful songs come, we’ll show our powerful side, and if we get fresh tracks, we’ll show our bright and refreshing side.”
As ITZY prepares to join the competitive June comeback lineup alongside groups like aespa, KISS OF LIFE, ILLIT, and HEART2HEARTS, Yeji expressed confidence, saying, “We’re looking forward to the activities of all our fellow girl groups, and we also want to present the best version of ourselves. With the experience we've gained, we believe we can show an even more charismatic, girl-crush image.”
ITZY’s new mini-album 'Girls Will Be Girls' will be released at 6 PM KST today on various music platforms.
