g.o.d once again lived up to their “living legend” status with a commanding performance on 'Immortal songs'.

On June 21, g.o.d appeared on the 2025 Gyeongju APEC Special episode of 'Immortal songs', delivering powerful performances and showcasing unwavering teamwork in their 26th year since debut. Introduced as “Korea’s beloved national group”, the members opened the stage with their mega-hit 'Road', moving the audience with their harmonious vocals and emotional delivery. The crowd responded with a massive sing-along, further elevating the moment.

During the post-stage interview, the members reflected on their bond. Son Ho Young said, “Whenever we get together, it feels like we’re back at debut. We may have aged, but when we’re with each other, we just go back to old jokes and teasing each other like before.” Kim Tae Woo added, “Whenever I’m here, I automatically become the youngest.” Denny Ahn playfully pinched Kim’s cheek on the spot, highlighting their lasting chemistry and affection.

The group then performed another hit, 'Friday Night', energizing the venue with ad-libs and stage presence. Next, they delivered a flawless live rendition of 'Place Where You Belong', moving to a satellite stage to get closer to the fans. Their live performance remained stable and powerful despite the track’s fast tempo, once again proving their unmatched skill.

To close the night, g.o.d sang their iconic ballad 'One Candle', a song that conveys peace and solidarity. The group dedicated the performance to the successful hosting of the 2025 APEC summit in Gyeongju, filling the venue with warmth and unity.

Their setlist, made entirely of mega-hits, captivated the audience and reaffirmed their relevance across generations. With timeless music and impeccable live performance, g.o.d solidified their status as Korea’s original “national group.”

Meanwhile, ahead of the broadcast, Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak Young sparked controversy by saying during a pre-recording session, “Isn’t g.o.d past their prime? They were from our generation.” The comment drew criticism from fans and the public, prompting the members themselves to step in and calm angry fans.

In response, Mayor Joo issued an apology, stating, “There was absolutely no intent to belittle any artist. As someone from the same generation, I personally loved and admired g.o.d, and I meant to express my fondness and surprise that they are still actively performing.”

Despite the controversy, g.o.d chose to respond with grace—letting their talent and legacy speak louder than words.
