K-pop: Demon Hunters, the new animated Netflix series featuring a K-pop girl group battling supernatural forces, has become a global phenomenon.
According to streaming analytics site FlixPatrol on June 22, K-pop: Demon Hunters reached No. 1 on Netflix's global TV series rankings just one day after its premiere. It topped the charts in 22 countries, including South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, India, Japan, and Hong Kong—signaling strong global momentum.

The series follows Rumi, Mira, and Joy, members of a K-pop girl group who secretly work as demon hunters. By day, they perform to sold-out stadiums; by night, they defend the world from supernatural threats. One day, a wildly popular boy group suddenly takes the world by storm. But when the girls discover the boys are actually demons in disguise, they launch into a battle that may change everything.
Netflix has shown its full support by changing its official X (formerly Twitter) profile header and name to reflect the characters in K-pop: Demon Hunters, signaling the show's breakout status among viewers worldwide.
The musical elements of the show have also captured fans’ attention. With a soundtrack that feels authentically K-pop, songs like 'TAKEDOWN', 'How It's Done', and 'Free' by the heroine trio Huntress, and 'Soda Pop' and 'Your Idol' by the antagonistic boy group Saja Boyz, have become fan favorites.
Top K-pop producers, including Teddy, Lindgren (BTS's ‘Boy With Luv’, TWICE's ‘I CAN’T STOP ME’), and Jenna Andrews (BTS's ‘Dynamite’, ‘Butter’), participated in creating the soundtrack, adding to its musical credibility.
Produced by Sony Pictures Animation, known for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the series features English voice acting by Ahn Hyo Seop in his dubbing debut and Lee Byung Hun as the villain Gwima. Members of TWICE—Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung—also contributed to the soundtrack.

The series embraces Korean culture with settings like Namsan Seoul Tower, traditional hanok rooftops, and folklore-inspired elements such as grim reapers, offering international viewers a vivid glimpse into Korean aesthetics.
With its action-packed storyline, high-quality animation, and authentic K-pop energy, K-pop: Demon Hunters is solidifying its place as one of 2025's most impactful releases.
