MMA fighter Choo Sung Hoon received a serious warning from singer Kim Jong Kook after wearing high-end accessories in Los Angeles—an area known for frequent armed robberies.
On May 27th KST, a new video titled “Two Over-the-Top Guys Tasting Tacos in LA” was uploaded to Choo Sung Hoon’s YouTube channel.
In the video, Choo reunites with Kim Jong-kook in LA. Upon greeting him, Kim immediately commented, “Hyung, what’s with the watch? I don’t think your staff understands the situation here in LA,” clearly alarmed by Choo’s flashy appearance.
Kim continued, “I was honestly worried. I was thinking I should message you separately. You really shouldn’t wear things like that here—it’s dangerous.” His concern stemmed from Choo wearing luxury items including an 80-million-won (~$58,000 USD) diamond earring and designer watch, which he had previously shown on other broadcasts.
Choo tried to play it off, saying jokingly, “If something happens, you’ll protect me,” to which Kim replied seriously, “Everyone here is carrying guns. No matter how good you are at fighting, it won’t matter. You can’t dodge a bullet. I’m not joking—this is serious. Two people I know were recently robbed in LA. Please be careful and hand those things over to your staff.”
Despite the advice, Choo remained relatively unfazed, prompting Kim to quip, “I don’t think he gets it. Even your earring is too flashy. I’m not going anywhere with you,” drawing laughter with his mock “disowning” of Choo.
