SBS has officially confirmed that its hit legal drama Good Partner will return for a second season.

According to JTBC Entertainment News on April 3rd, the show’s production company, Studio S, recently finalized the decision and has begun preparations for season 2. Lead actresses Jang Na Ra and Nam Ji Hyun, who starred in the first season, have reportedly been informed and are currently reviewing their offers to return.

The production team is aiming to begin filming in the fall, though details regarding the schedule and full cast have yet to be confirmed. An SBS representative stated, “It’s true that season 2 is in the works. However, it is still in the early stages of planning, so nothing has been finalized regarding filming dates or casting.”

Originally aired from July to September last year, Good Partner drew strong viewer response with a peak rating of 17.7% (Nielsen Korea). The series follows the lives of divorce lawyers and their emotionally charged cases.

Jang Na Ra played star divorce lawyer Cha Eun Kyung, while Nam Ji Hyun portrayed the passionate rookie attorney Han Yoo Ri. Their on-screen chemistry was a major factor in the drama’s success. In recognition of their performances, Jang Na Ra won the Grand Prize at the 2023 SBS Drama Awards, and Nam Ji Hyun received the Top Excellence Award.

Given both actresses’ deep affection for the series, it is expected that the main cast negotiations will proceed smoothly. In interviews after the finale, both expressed a strong desire for a second season.

Season 2 is expected to explore the evolving dynamic between their characters, especially following their courtroom face-off in the final scene of season 1 — leaving fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter.
