On January 24, KBS’s 'The Seasons: Lee Young Ji’s Rainbow' brought together an exciting lineup featuring DPNS, Jamie, (G)I-DLE’s Minnie, Kim Wan Sun, Red Velvet’s Seulgi, and J.Y. Park. Each artist brought unique stories and performances, captivating viewers with memorable moments.
During the broadcast, Kim Wan Sun, who is a legendary singer nicknamed "Korea's Madonna," along with Red Velvet’s Seulgi, performed their new collaborative track, "Lucky," produced by J.Y. Park. In a surprise appearance, J.Y. Park joined the stage, revealing a touching story of reconciliation with Kim Wan Sun.
J.Y. Park and Kim Wan Sun revealed that the two cleared up some misunderstandings after 27 years. Kim Wan Sun admitted that she had hesitations about collaborating due to lingering traumas of the discord. However, she overcame her worries and decided to participate in this project.
She explained, "Around 1997, I fell in love with J.Y. Park's song 'She Was Pretty' so I wanted to receive a song from him. I mustered up the courage to go see him and after talking to him for a bit, he just said 'I can't give you (any songs), Noona' got up and just left." She added, "I became traumatized by it so I couldn't ask anyone else for songs. But then, he suddenly asked me to make an appearance in his music video when he released his new song, 'Changed Man' two years ago and I said yes."
Kim Wan Sun revealed that she confronted J.Y. Park during the music video filming about rejecting her request. That's when J.Y. Park replied, "Should I give you a song now?" and revealed that's how they created the song "Lucky."
J.Y. Park also revealed that he had contacted SM Entertainment to bring Seulgi on board for this collaboration. He praised Seulgi and shared his admiration for her unexpected vocal talent.
