However, some Taiwanese netizens are turning their backs after Lai Kuan Lin identified himself as Chinese. The issue surfaced after Lai Kuan Lin's profile for 'Produce 101' season 2 recently regained attention.

On the profile, Lai Kuan Lin wrote, "Lai Kuan Lin from China-Taiwan.''

Taiwanese netizens displeased with the ''China'' in the profile criticized Lai Kuan Lin and commented, "Go back to China", "Deport Lai Kuan Lin'', and more.

On the other hand, Chinese netizens defended the idol and commented, "Why are they reacting so sensitive to just one word?", "I actually like him more now."
