Producer Ahn Joon Young of 'Produce 101' explained the differences between male and female trainees in the competition program.

At the press conference for 'Produce 101' season 2 on April 3, Ahn PD said, "In one word, the female contestants on season 1 were 'vicious'. Their talents were also all above average. The male contestants on season 2 are slow and there's a big range in talent." He added, "The trainers had a hard time. Those who are good are really good and those who are bad are really bad."

Kahi, who's once again joining as the trainer, commented, "The female trainees have stronger desires to win. On the other hand, I saw timid and passive sides in the male trainees. But what's important is that there are some who have self-control through it."

The first episode of 'Produce 101' season 2 is airing April 7.

what's with the harsh wordss!!!...  you know why they joined this freaking show? it's because they want to debut as an awesome and great idols...  you're a trainer you're job is to engrave/make them. if you keep on saying that stuffs then they will lose confidence and then they will want to quit. you are there to guide them not the other way around.

WOW That's harsh!! Like if you are gonna complain abt talent, maybe you should have made that your main criteria in picking them >_>

I watched the boys perform pick me on he baseball court and there were a few that basically got all the moves wrong. As someone who does dance covers on youtube (but isnt professionally trained) i think a dance like that should take me at MOST a day to fully perfect. Considering the fact that they received professional training and probably practiced for days on end for this song, its pretty evident that they are either not talented or didnt put in any effort. I dont remember seeing this phenomena in season 1. When i watched the girls dance pick me in the basketball court/ indoor gymnasium i didnt really see anyone (not even sohye or that japanese girl) that was particularly out of sync, so this really proves the trainer's point.

Haven't all the big companies refused to send trainees? Besides, they're mostly teenagers. And teenagers being rebellious or lazy is really unheard of? And if they are treated like slaves, you really think they're going to show their best?? Idiots.

intricate Tuesday, April 4, 2017

this comparison is BS because the trainees are treated completely differently compared to the previous season... the comparison is also BS in general because it sends a very bad message out to the world that suggests there's some kind of (non-biological) difference depending on your gender.

All the girls were above average?  Did they forget about Ariyoshi Risa?? O_O

eager_beaver Tuesday, April 4, 2017

Totally understandable. At that age the women/girls are still ahead of boys and are more mature. Also, there are more interest among girls for singing and dancing (not a sexist statement, just a fact), which means that the pool from which to pick female performers is larger than that of boys, and as a result there will be more high-quality female performers. I've always said that female groups are on average simply more talented than boy groups. They have more initial passion for the craft, there are more girls to choose from making it easier to find those clear diamonds, and that's why I only listen to girl groups. Unfortunately, boy groups often quite clearly created as marketing machines, tools to make money by wetting the panties of female fans. They are much more created for the purpose of money compared to girl groups, while at the same time lacking in the talent department compared to the girls.

This comment is so incredibly misinformed, Jesus Christ, I'm in awe. You're keeping yourself ignorant if you keep only listening to girl groups.

eager_beaver namelessloverxx Wednesday, April 5, 2017

Ignorant? That's not the case. Listening to music is a question of taste, not knowledge. Some things you like, others you don't, and that's not because of ignorance, but simply because of taste. Knowledge has nothing to do with that. I like girl groups' music, not boy groups' music. Listening to boy groups isn't going to make me more informed about the world, and thereby less ignorant. Forcing myself to listen to boy groups isn't going to change anything. Saying that I'm ignorant for only listening to girl groups because I don't like boy groups is the exact same thing as saying that I'm ignorant for not collecting stamps, not doing boxing or not doing cosplay, even though I simply do not like doing those things. I don't understand why I should start doing things I don't like because somehow not doing those things I don't like keeps me "ignorant".

By all means listen to girl groups if you prefer girl groups, I'm not questioning your preference. But you said some very ignorant and wrong things in your original comment that don't boil down to taste or opinion: "there are more interest among girls for singing and dancing (not a sexist statement, just a fact)" "female groups are on average simply more talented than boy groups" "[boy groups] are much more created for the purpose of money compared to girl groups, while at the same time lacking in the talent department compared to the girls" Those are basically your main points, not "I prefer girl groups" but "it's a fact that girl groups are better/more talented." The statements that I quoted from you are baseless and false. And again, you only listening to girl groups will only serve to perpetuate your idea that they are more talented than boy groups. If you truly care about talent like you claim, you'd know that there are plenty of talented boy groups out there.

Doesn't mean you don't have to give them proper food.
