Super Junior's Kyuhyun has taken the title of the ultimate penny pincher, surpassing even famously frugal Kim Jong Kook.
On the upcoming July 3 episode of KBS2’s 'Problem Child in House,' Kyuhyun and Shindong of Super Junior, celebrating their 20th debut anniversary this year, will appear as guests.
Making their first appearance on the show, Kyuhyun and Shindong jokingly remarked, “We thought we were banned from appearing on KBS,” showing off their veteran idol wit and humor.
Despite being bandmates for 20 years, the two confessed to feeling awkward around each other, revealing they clash in everything from daily habits to personalities. Their contrasting spending habits especially drew attention. While Shindong is known for being a maximalist and a food delivery enthusiast, Kyuhyun surprised everyone by saying, “My monthly card bill is under 500,000 KRW (approx. 368.41 USD). I’ve been frugal since I was young.” He added that he often wears shirts that cost 15,000 KRW (~11.05 USD) and pants priced at 20,000 KRW (~14.73 USD).

He even made a shocking confession and said, “I didn’t turn on the air conditioner even once last summer,” which made even Kim Jong Kook, K-entertainment’s symbol of frugality, burst into laughter.
Kyuhyun also addressed rumors about receiving a multi-billion KRW signing bonus when joining Antenna. After leaving SM Entertainment last year after 18 years, Kyuhyun signed with Antenna and clarified, “I didn’t receive any signing bonus at all.” He expressed gratitude to Antenna for prioritizing his group activities with Super Junior, saying, “Antenna doesn’t touch any income from Super Junior group promotions,” which left everyone surprised.
Meanwhile, Kyuhyun and Shindong also recall one of Super Junior’s legendary behind-the-scenes episodes, an actual fistfight that broke out in a music show waiting room. From yelling and physical scuffles to hugging it out in tears mid-recording, the full story behind Super Junior’s infamous group quarrel will be revealed on 'Problem Child in House' airing Thursday, July 3 at 8:30 PM KST.
