Former DAY6 member Jae, now active as a solo artist under the name Eaj, recently sparked attention after leaving a candid comment on a TikTok video.
The video highlighted one of the dark sides of the K-pop industry, especially the discrimination seen between the popular and unpopular members. The video described, "Imagine how it would feel to be in a Kpop group and you're the least popular, the least amount of followers on ig, the cheapest photocards, no one cheers for u during performances, and the least biased on Kprofiles."
EaJ's TikTok comment

The video garnered attention when Eaj left a direct response under the video. He said, "This was me in Korea. It hurt going to fan-related events. Producers were told not to give me lines in our 2nd comeback. At every single fan event, I was reminded that I was somewhat reminded that I didn't belong there. It took a while to get used to it, but I eventually did. I did get love from overseas as well as a few Korean fans, so I'm eternally grateful for those people. I still remember them and the short conversations we had after all these years. So, yeah, when you meet your favorite group, be kind to everyone!! We remember and cherish you. Seriously."
Korean netizens' reaction
Eaj's comment was translated into Korean and shared in a popular online community where Korean fans and netizens showed support for the singer. While some reminded him that he was cherished by his fans, some lamented that he still seemed hurt by his experience. Some fans criticized that Jae was not an unpopular member, and he only left when the group was struggling.
They commented:
"DAY6's fandom supported all members, and he wasn’t the least popular. He even got fair parts. Why is he acting like he had it so bad?"
"He seems to do this kind of thing regularly… Didn’t he leave voluntarily? What’s with him?"
"I wasn’t even a fan, but I still knew who he was. What does he mean he was an unpopular member?"
"He wasn’t exactly a popular member, but he wasn’t completely ignored either. The fandom back then didn’t have a toxic atmosphere or favoritism."
"He must really regret leaving the group... lol."
"He wasn’t the most popular, but wasn’t the least either. I get he might feel bad seeing DAY6 doing so well after he left. Still, it’s been a while."
"He was actually the most well-known when I first discovered DAY6."
"He always talks like he had it the worst. It makes his fans feel bad."
"We loved his vocals. This victim complex is too much..."
"Didn't he leave when the group was struggling to do well? Why is he mentioning this again when the remaining members worked hard and became successful?"
"When I didn't know DAY6, I remember he was the center member with his hair dyed. So, I thought he was the most supported member."
"He left DAY6 before they became big, no?"
"I think he was the most well-known member of DAY6 before. lol."
"His voice was my favorite, but now I have no attachment."
"Why is he acting like this?"
