Ju Hak Yeon, a former member of The Boyz, has been cleared of allegations related to prostitution.
On July 2, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced a decision not to pursue charges against Ju under the Act on the Punishment of Arrangement of Commercial Sex Acts, citing insufficient evidence to proceed with the case.
The investigation was triggered by an anonymous report submitted via the national petition system, alleging that Ju had paid for a private encounter with former adult video actress Asuka Kirara at a private bar in Tokyo. The report was based on an online news article that claimed Ju had provided money to Asuka in exchange for a personal meeting.
However, police concluded there was a lack of concrete grounds beyond the article to initiate formal proceedings, stating that the information presented did not warrant a full investigation.
The controversy emerged shortly after his agency, One Hundred Label, announced last month that Ju would temporarily suspend activities due to personal reasons. The prostitution allegation quickly followed, fueling speculation and public concern.
Ju acknowledged meeting with Asuka Kirara but firmly denied any involvement in prostitution. Following the emergence of the allegations, his agency announced his withdrawal from the group and termination of his exclusive contract.
In response, Ju filed a counter-complaint against the anonymous individual who reported him, citing false accusation, and has also launched a civil lawsuit against the media outlet that first reported the claim.
