On July 18, Chanyeol addressed his actions of illegally downloading Pokemon Gold and Silver. However, the idol star continued to be criticized by netizens for his poor grammar, writing skills, and lack of sincerity. 

Netizens claim that Chanyeol sounded inappropriately joyful and excited, judging by his use of exclamation points. He was also called insincere for uploading a random picture of him along with the apology. In addition, he referred to himself using the third person, which made the overall writing sound childish and unprofessional.

As a result of the harsh criticism, Chanyeol first edited his post by taking out his photo and exclamation points. Soon after, he further edited the post by removing the use of the third person. However, despite the changes, netizens and even some fans have turned against Chanyeol for his continuous "inappropriate behavior".
