Actress Hwang Jung Eum has completed repayment of all funds she was accused of misappropriating from her company, officially closing the legal matter surrounding the case.
On June 17, her agency Y.ONE Entertainment released a statement saying, “Hwang Jung Eum has repaid the full amount she used in the form of advance payments from Hunminjeongeum Entertainment. She disposed of personal assets and completed the repayment in two installments, on May 30 and June 5, 2025.”
The agency continued, “As a result, all financial matters between Hunminjeongeum Entertainment and Hwang Jung Eum have been settled.”
Y.ONE Entertainment further stated, “As the owner of a one-person corporation and not a professional manager, Hwang Jung Eum lacked sufficient knowledge in accounting and taxation, which contributed to the issue. She deeply regrets the situation and has sincerely fulfilled all legal and moral obligations required for a swift resolution.”
The agency also expressed their remorse, saying, “We sincerely apologize for causing concern and promise that, moving forward, Hwang Jung Eum will act with greater caution and responsibility, seeking professional guidance even in minor matters to restore public trust.”
In 2022, Hwang Jung Eum faced trial without detention on charges of embezzling approximately 4.34 billion KRW (around $3.1 million) from her private agency, Hunminjeongeum Entertainment. She allegedly used 700 million KRW (approximately $505,000) of the company’s funds, received as an advance, to invest in cryptocurrency.
