BTS members Jimin and Jungkook recently went live on fan platform Weverse to celebrate their discharge from military service, sharing humorous and heartfelt updates with fans around the world.
During the live broadcast, Jimin opened up about his noticeable weight gain, revealing that he had gained 10 kilograms during his service. “Believe it or not, I’ve been dieting for a long time. But in the military, surrounded by big guys and seeing fit officers, I also wanted to bulk up,” he explained. “I even started running at 5 a.m. to lose swelling before discharge, but the real issue wasn’t bloating—it was the meals.”
Jimin pointed out the heavy carbohydrate content of military meals. “The trays are the problem,” he said with a laugh. “The rice is packed, the soup has carbs, and even the side dishes are loaded with them.”
Jungkook agreed, adding, “Military food is seriously high in calories—but also really tasty.”
Fans flooded the comment section with supportive and amused reactions, saying, “Blame the food trays!”, “Jimin is adorable,” and “Even with weight gain, he still looks amazing.” Others shared their excitement about the group’s reunion and anticipation for new music.
Jimin and Jungkook were officially discharged from the Army’s 5th Infantry Division on June 11.
With RM and V discharged a day earlier, six out of the seven BTS members have now completed their military duties. SUGA, currently serving as a public service worker, is expected to finish his service and rejoin the group on June 21(KST).
Meanwhile, the recent “2025 BTS FESTA” offline event held at KINTEX in Goyang drew an audience of over 60,000 ARMYs from around the world.
The event featured a special “Voice Zone,” where fans could hear heartfelt recorded messages from the members, such as “We’ve missed you so much,” and “We’re excited to do a lot of new things. Please look forward to it.”
