New tvN drama 'Goblin' is receiving a hot response for the first two episodes!  It is also receiving mostly positive criticism; however, there seems to be a debate over lead actress Kim Go Eun in the drama as some netizens argue that she is great for the role while others prefer the bromance between Gong Yoo and Lee Dong Wook.  They argue that, especially with the chemistry amongst other cast members going on, Kim Go Eun fades in comparison.

Netizens wrote, "Kim Go Eun is perfect for the role, acts well, and is pretty in my eyes.." "Isn't Kim Go Eun's acting the best?  She looks like a total baby when she smiles," "I think she gives off a special vibe that is unique to her.  She's delicate and expresses things with personality, which I like. I also like that she doesn't stick out but she still has presence," "Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun's chemistry makes my heart flutter," and, "Kim Go Eun looks innocent and fresh... I like the character... and she's good at acting..."

On the other hand, netizens wrote, "She was perfect for Hong Seol in 'Cheese in the Trap,' but in ['Goblin'], I can't feel her charm.. It kind of seems like she's just tagging along on her own.." "One vote for Kim Go Eun interrupts my immersion whenever she comes out TT," "Kim Go Eun... what a shame.  I will keep watching for now, but... I'm as uneasy as ever," "What's a shame is... I prefer Gong Yoo and Lee Dong Wook's chemistry~^^," and more.

What did you think? Do you think she doesn't fit in or do you think she adds her own charm to the show?

I think shes perfect for the role. One minute we feel for her abuse and sadness (as she tries to pretend shes not) , the  next we're irritated with her couldnt careless, seemingly unfeeling behaviour (but actually  we feel she pretends not to be) to Gob. All that assumption by us is because she could act  the part! AND she is preeeety cute when she smiles widely.  No tearjerker actress for me this early episodes please

p.s. I find it funny that netizens are criticizing her acting when Korean A-list actors have been complimenting her for years now lol.

I CANNOT believe there's even an argument about this! Yea, I was impressed with the storyline at the get-go and sure, even the bromance, but what really drew me in was her acting! I've read the complaints, and seems to me, a lot of Netizens want what's in nearly every other freakin K-drama out there. No wonder so many dramas follow the same outlines and predictability (no offense). I really hope Goblin doesn't turn out that way.

She is perfect in my eye, both in  CITT and Goblin.

I do love the bromance, but I think Kim go eun's role here is really suit her, people comment like that because they stuck in the mindset with her act on heese in the trap, I think her role here make the drama even more good.. I love her role a lot.. I dont know whether I can love this drama a lot like this if its not because of her... and its still 2 episode. we can still see more from them.. why korean critics so fast... :(

They don't know how versatile of an actress she is. The first time I saw her was in the movie "Eungyo" (which was pretty dark and meant for mature audiences), so I was really surprised with how different she acted in CITT and I'm once again pleasantly surprised and blown away with how well she's acting in "Goblin".

lol I do agree with one of the bashing knets though. I do prefer gong yoo and lee dong wooks chemistry. But otherwise I like the show, I'm a fan of hers and I like that she's playing a 19 year old girl as a 19 year old girl. I think it's cliche to think that every person who sees ghosts is sad, mature, depressed and without humor and joi de vivre. I also think she's playing the character as it's been written.

that's because 2 of the episodes were more centered on GY and LDK story. They are after all the fantasy of the drama. Of course people will more focus on them rather than female lead. To me, she really brings out the girl's character. We didn't see much of her story. How is she suppose to be central then. Geez the biased judgement is too much. Talk about how males will always have to work less when it comes to character portrayal. If they're handsome, they're good to go. To be fair, I didn't feel that much from LDW's acting. His acting is a bit pale in comparison to KGE.

Well i kinda agree with some of the comments as her acting in cheese in the trap was so good that i can't feel her charm in goblin but i think it is too early to judge her skill from just 2 episodes. I'm sure she will show her potential in the upcoming episodes.

I agree with the critiques, her acting is decent but i think her character doesn't stick out much. Like she's just there but not really interesting. I'm a huge fan of her, loved her in A Muse, Monster, Coin Locker Room, and Cheese in a Trap. But i feel like her character is lacking substance. Lee Dong Wook x Gong Yoo scenes are far more anticipated and enjoyable. THis is the screenwriters fault tho, i'm not a fan of them (DOTS, Heirs, Gentlemen's dignity, Lovers saga) i dislike the way they write female characters...But alternatively I'm loving Yoo In Ah's character!

I think you got it wrong, to me the "simple girl" getting involved with too fantasy characters is what makes the story more interesting, if the whole thing where filled with extravagant characters it wouldn't be so refreshing, i mean she can see ghosts but the fact that for her is somenting "natural" (not big deal) is great otherwise we'll be looking back at others dramas about the same and comparing, and i also think the story is not about how the gobling and the reaper afect the girl's life but backwards, is about how she's changing them, so of course we'll see more of them "reacting", people expect cinderella's stories in every drama...

Perfect comment my exact sentiments and more. She's not the typical depressed and tormented medium that's so cliche now in these types of stories and I love it. I am a little concerned that the script writers wrote Heirs and DOTS both of which I didn't enjoy because they didn't capture the depth of the situations and mainly focused on romance. But hopefully they grew from those shows and TvN's influence creates an amazing, well rounded show.

I blame the writing. We all know how great of an actress she is (I first saw her in "Eungyo" and was blown away with her acting transition from that to CITT).
