On June 20, MBC released the intense "Savior Teaser" for its upcoming Friday-Saturday drama 'Mary Kills People,' immediately drawing attention with its gripping atmosphere and emotional depth.
Set to premiere on August 1 at 10 p.m., 'Mary Kills People' is a suspense drama that explores the controversial story of a doctor who helps terminally ill patients end their lives and a detective who investigates her actions. The drama is directed by Park Jun Woo and written by Lee Soo Ah, with a cast that includes Lee Bo Young, Lee Min Ki, and Kang Ki Young, raising high expectations.
The newly released teaser introduces Lee Bo Young in the role of Woo So Jung, a doctor who chooses to end her patients’ pain. With a tense soundtrack playing in the background, the teaser creates a powerful and provocative atmosphere. Visuals include the glow of an operating room, a syringe filled with drugs fizzing in a champagne glass, and Woo So Jung's troubled expression, heightening the sense of unease.
The teaser features the phrase "A doctor who ends the patient's suffering," followed by Woo So Jung handing over a champagne glass, walking into an emergency room, and alternating shots of suffering patients. Woo So Jung is seen watching someone sitting on a rocky beach, while scenes of calm with Choi Dae Hyun (played by Kang Ki Young) and images of Choi Kang Yoon (Lee Sang Yoon) and Eun Young (Son Sook) drinking champagne suggest an unsettling duality.
Toward the end, the phrases "A savior to some" and "A killer to others" appear on screen, while Woo So Jung trembles with a gun in her hand, her eyes filled with conflict. The final scene shows a statue of the Virgin Mary, followed by someone calling her "Maria," and a voice responding firmly, "You are no longer Maria."
The production team stated that the teaser captures the distinct tone and storyline of 'Mary Kills People,' offering something unlike anything viewers have seen before. They encouraged audiences to look forward to powerful performances and a fresh take on the suspense drama genre.
