'The Good Man' (written by Kim Woon Kyung and Kim Hyo Seok, directed by Song Hae Sung and Park Hong Soo) will kick off JTBC’s new Friday drama lineup.
On June 20, three character teaser videos were released, highlighting Lee Dong Wook’s noir moments.
Lee Dong Wook takes on the role of Park Seok Cheol, the eldest son in a third-generation gangster family. The teasers offered a glimpse into Seok Cheol’s tumultuous life, filled with things he must protect. His eyes, as he tightened a bloodstained bandage, reflected deep emptiness.

A surprising side of him was also revealed. Seok Cheol idolizes novelist Ernest Hemingway. In one scene, he recites, “As long as the sun rises, there is hope,” expressing his inner torment and touching on his emotional depth.
Although he once dreamed of becoming a novelist, Seok Cheol ended up living the life of a gangster. His line, “I chose the road less traveled by. And that has made all the difference,” encapsulates the essence of the drama.

Park Seok Cheol never wanted to be a gangster. Though he endured it with unwavering resolve, he now decides to reclaim his life and revisit his childhood dream of becoming a writer.
He fatefully reunites with his first love, Kang Mi Young (played by Lee Sung Kyung), who dreams of becoming a singer. This encounter throws his life into turmoil once again, and viewers can expect a deep emotional melodrama between Lee Dong Wook and Lee Sung Kyung.
'The Good Man' is directed by Song Hae Sung, known for films like 'Failan,' 'Boomerang Family,' and 'Maundy Thursday,' and Park Hong Soo, who worked on the drama 'Lost.' Their collaboration promises detailed, sensitive direction.
Writers Kim Woon Kyung (known for 'Steal Heart,' 'The Moon of Seoul,' and 'A Bluebird Has It') and Kim Hyo Seok ('Yadang: The Snitch') have teamed up for the script. The cast features Lee Dong Wook in the lead, along with Lee Sung Kyung, Park Hoon, Oh Na Ra, Ryu Hye Young, and Chun Ho Jin, all delivering powerful performances.
'The Good Man' will premiere on July 18 at 8:50 PM KST and air two consecutive episodes every Friday, marking the beginning of the weekend.
