Singer Park Hyo Shin’s recent concert is drawing mixed reactions from attendees, with many pointing to issues with sound quality, setlist composition, and overall production.
The performance took place on April 4 KST at Incheon Munhak Stadium Main Stadium, where the artist met fans as part of his latest concert series. However, reviews from audience members suggest that the experience fell short of expectations for some.
A major point of criticism was the sound system. Multiple attendees reported that lyrics were difficult to hear throughout the show, describing the audio as muffled to the point where vocals resembled humming. Even during speaking segments between songs, communication with the audience was reportedly unclear.
The setlist also became a topic of disappointment. Despite a discography spanning multiple full length albums, only two songs from his main albums (including remake works) were performed, according to attendees. Longtime fans in particular expressed regret over the heavy focus on newer material.
In terms of performance length, the concert ran for over three hours but featured approximately 16 songs, leading some to question the balance between runtime and musical content.
As the show was held outdoors, weather conditions added another layer of difficulty. Audience members noted that the temperature was colder than expected, with some advising future attendees to dress warmly.
Production elements also faced criticism. Some pointed out delays attributed to insufficient preparation for cold weather, as well as issues with stage effects such as confetti and fireworks. One moment that drew particular attention was during a performance of “Wild Flower,” when confetti reportedly interfered with the singer mid performance, disrupting immersion for parts of the audience.
Additionally, certain segments of the show, including a religious themed portion involving audience participation and spoken messages, received mixed responses. While some may have found it meaningful, others expressed discomfort, especially those who do not share religious beliefs.
Despite the criticisms, some attendees noted that sound quality varied depending on seating location, with front facing sections reportedly offering a better experience than side areas.
The concert ultimately sparked ongoing discussion among fans, highlighting the challenges of large scale outdoor performances and differing expectations regarding setlist, production, and artistic direction.
