Singer and actress Nana has shared vivid details about the terrifying robbery that occurred at her home.
On March 9, the YouTube channel 'Zzanbro Shin Dong Yup' uploaded a new episode of its casual talk show. The episode featured actors Ju Ji Hoon, Ha Ji Won, and Nana, who star in the upcoming ENA drama 'Climax.'
During the show, host Shin Dong Yeob brought up the robbery that took place at Nana’s home in November of last year.
“I saw it in the news. They said you fought off the thief. The first thought that came to mind was, I’m glad you weren’t hurt. Second is, wow, I'm so proud, and you're amazing. You were with your mother, right? ” he asked.
He continued to share, "You lost it cause she was with you. You often see parents lose it to protect their children, but it's the same for the children. They would do anything for their parents. But I was so relieved you were safe."
Nana replied, “My mother is someone more precious than my own life.” She continued, “I was completely out of my mind at the time. Thankfully, nothing worse happened, but the moment felt incredibly long. Every second felt like a fleeting instant. After everything was settled, I realized that in dangerous situations, you have to act instinctively.”
She reflected on the frightening moment, saying, “It could have been very dangerous. If you hesitate and think too much in that split second, that could actually put you in more danger. Honestly, if there hadn’t been a weapon involved, I don’t know if I would have had that much courage.” She added, "I'd never imagined he would have a weapon. Then I saw it (the weapon) drop. So I instinctively went to defend her."
Nana also expressed deep affection for her mother. “We are the only ones we have in this world. I always thought she was special, but this incident made me realize it even more,” she said.
Describing what happened that night, Nana recalled, “My mom was in the living room while I was asleep in my room. My room is far from the living room, so it’s hard to hear anything. But I woke up because I heard a small sound that my mom made for some reason.”
“She couldn’t even scream because she was worried I might wake up and get hurt,” Nana added.
Nana revealed that her mother briefly lost consciousness during the attack. “My mom said she fainted for a moment because her neck was being choked. She later told me she regretted not shouting ‘Lock the door’ to me. I could feel the fear she experienced in that moment. It made us realize we’ll protect each other for the rest of our lives, and it brought us even closer.”
In November last year, Nana and her mother were injured during a home invasion. During the incident, the intruder allegedly choked Nana’s mother, causing her to lose consciousness, while Nana sustained minor injuries while restraining him.
The suspect also suffered a jaw injury during the struggle. However, police determined that the injuries inflicted by Nana and her mother were acts of self-defense. Nana later countersued the suspect on charges of false accusation.
