A new drama featuring a lineup of trusted actors is drawing attention even before its premiere.
SBS is launching a new Wednesday–Thursday romance comedy. The network’s upcoming drama 'Sold Out on You' (directed by Ahn Jong Yeon, written by Jin Seung Hee, produced by Studio S, Beyond J, and Slingshot Studio) is set to premiere on April 22. The series follows the story of perfectionist farmer Matthew Lee, nicknamed “Quail,” and top-selling home shopping host Dam Ye Jin, whose lives become intertwined day and night in an unfolding romantic tale.
Actors including Ahn Hyo Seop, Chae Won Bin, Kim Bum, and Ko Doo Shim gathered for the script reading. Ahead of the session, director Ahn Jong Yeon shared his goal of creating “an enjoyable and happy set.”
Ahn Hyo Seop portrays the young farmer Matthew Lee, known by the nickname “Quail.” He captured the character’s tough-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside personality through a prickly tone of voice contrasted with warm expressions. During scenes involving farm work or driving a cultivator, he even added sound effects with his voice in line with the script, bringing playful energy to the reading.

Chae Won Bin takes on the role of Dam Ye Jin, a show host affiliated with the hit home shopping company Hit Home Shopping. She energized the reading with her lively performance. In moments where her character persuades others to achieve her goals, she displayed the charm of a top show host who has surpassed 1 trillion KRW (approx. 676 million USD) in cumulative sales, using a confident voice and captivating gestures.
The chemistry between Ahn Hyo Seop and Chae Won Bin particularly stood out as they built the bickering dynamic between the prickly young farmer Matthew Lee and the fiery city woman Dam Ye Jin. Their natural exchange of lines and eye contact during the reading heightened anticipation for the playful romantic tension their characters will bring to the screen.
Kim Bum immersed himself in the role of Eric Seo, the executive director of the cosmetics company L’Etoile, a character known for his warm personality. His playful tone and expressive gaze, highlighting the character’s openness about emotions and affection, set hearts racing among those present.
Meanwhile, Ko Doo Shim played Song Hak Daek, a powerful figure in Deokpung Village. With her friendly line, “Would you like to stay for some potatoes?” along with her warm dialect and gentle smile, she added a comforting charm to the atmosphere. Throughout the reading, she also encouraged fellow actors with generous applause, demonstrating her supportive presence.
With the actors’ performances promising to deliver heart-fluttering moments directly to viewers, 'Sold Out on You' is scheduled to premiere on April 22.

Ahn Hyo Seop has built recognition among viewers through appearances in various drama and film genres. In particular, he received praise for his performance as Seo Woo Jin in 'Dr. Romantic 2,' which surpassed a 20 percent viewership rating. For the role, he won the Best New Actor award in the TV category at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards and later received the Excellence Award at the 2020 SBS Drama Awards.
He later returned to viewers through romance dramas such as 'Lovers of the Red Sky' and 'Business Proposal.' The latter, based on a web novel of the same name, gained widespread popularity despite its familiar romantic tropes, largely due to Ahn Hyo Seop’s charming chemistry with Kim Sejeong. The drama gradually spread through word of mouth and achieved major success across Asia. Although it was not a Netflix original, it ranked No. 1 on Netflix in eight countries and remained in the global Top 10 for 10 consecutive weeks.
More recently, Ahn Hyo Seop also received praise for his English voice acting as Jinu of the Saja Boys in Netflix’s hit animation 'K-Pop Demon Hunters.' Known for portraying a wide range of characters, viewers are eager to see what new side he will show in this project.

Chae Won Bin, who will star alongside Ahn Hyo Seop, is a rising actress who recently caught viewers’ attention in the drama 'Doubt.' Born in 2001, she previously played supporting roles in several projects, including 'My Lovely Boxer' and the 'Sweet Home' series. However, she demonstrated notable acting skills when she took on a more significant lead role in Such a Close Traitor.
Despite being a newcomer, her strong on-screen chemistry with veteran actor Han Suk Kyu also drew attention. Through that work, she swept multiple rookie awards, winning Best New Actress at the MBC Drama Awards, the 2024 APAN Star Awards, and the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards, further establishing her presence among viewers.
