Actors Kim Nam Gil and Lee Yoo Mi are set to join forces in a new drama, bringing with them a unique weapon—“nightmares”—to take down villains.
SBS announced the main cast lineup for its upcoming series 'Nightmare' (written by Kim Gyu Won, directed by Lee Dan), confirming that Kim Nam Gil and Lee Yoo Mi will lead the project.
'Nightmare' is a justice-driven investigative drama with a supernatural twist. It follows a system in which criminals who cannot be punished by law are imprisoned not in real-world prisons, but within nightmares. The story moves fluidly between dreams and reality as justice is carried out.
Kim Nam Gil will play Kim Tae Yi, a detective who returns to the Southern Police Station after completing an undercover assignment. Although everything around him has changed, his relentless pursuit of evil remains unwavering.
Lee Yoo Mi takes on the role of Jang Gyu Eun, Kim Tae Yi’s colleague and a victim support officer at the same station. While she appears timid in real life, she undergoes a complete transformation within dreams.
A key highlight of the drama will be the duo’s teamwork. A detective more dangerous than gangsters and a mysterious “nightmare designer” join forces to make criminals who evade legal punishment pay for their sins.
The production team stated, “With the premise of judging criminals who cannot be imprisoned through ‘nightmares,’ the series will serve as a warning to those who escape the consequences of their actions.”
They added, “Kim Nam Gil and Lee Yoo Mi will bring strong immersion to the concept of cooperation between a detective and a nightmare designer. Please look forward to their on-screen chemistry.”
'Nightmare' is scheduled to premiere next year.
