Baek Ji Young, who was once rumored to have spent 1 billion KRW on plastic surgery, has opened up about the side effects she experienced and the different beauty trends that eventually come back.
In a recent video uploaded to her YouTube channel, Baek Ji Young offered heartfelt advice to a staff member planning to undergo rhinoplasty. She said, "The moment you follow trends in plastic surgery, you are doomed. You fall into the cycle of revision surgeries. You have to find a natural angle that suits your face. You need to find the right procedure and the right clinic for you."
She emphasized, "Avoid hospitals that recommend multiple surgeries at once. If something goes wrong, you will not know the cause." She added, "I also experienced failures for years. I followed plastic surgery trends too and made my double eyelids thicker."
Regarding why people fall into the 'cycle of revision surgeries,' Baek Ji Young explained, "It is not that you become greedy. You start seeing flaws that others do not notice. Once you have the experience of liking the results after one surgery, that feeling makes you want to do it again. There is a psychological aspect to it."
Baek Ji Young shared that her first plastic surgery came at her mother’s suggestion. "Around the time I graduated high school and entered a broadcasting related department, my mom asked, 'Shouldn’t you fix your eyes, nose, and lips?' So I did. I had already undergone surgery when I placed third in a beauty pageant," she said.
She continued candidly, "If I could go back, I would not have my first surgery. After living through it, I realized that face trends come back around. These days, features like my old face with no double eyelids, a smaller nose, and a rounder shape are trending again. So I do not think I would do it."
Baek Ji Young and her husband Jung Suk Won later visited a plastic surgery clinic for a consultation. Baek Ji Young revealed her concerns, saying, "My nose used to be long, but at some point its shape changed. As it lifted, the shape of my nostrils changed." The director explained, "The ideal length from the glabella to the tip of the nose is about 47mm. Even shortening it by just 3mm can make it look significantly shorter," and recommended revision surgery.
Jung Suk Won expressed his affection, saying, "When my wife has surgery, can she use my cartilage? I want to give her all of it." However, the director responded, "There has never been such a case," drawing laughter. Regarding Jung Suk Won’s appearance, the director commented, "You are at your most handsome age right now," and suggested subtle forehead lifting procedures in the future when he is older.
During the consultation with a director who pursues natural looking procedures, Baek Ji Young jokingly said she "wanted to lie down right away" on the operating table. She then advised viewers, "After plastic surgery, do not look in the mirror too much. You will want to do it again. If everything went well without problems, then focus on skincare next. Satisfaction has no end, so you need to know how to be content at a certain point."
Meanwhile, Baek Ji Young corrected a statement she made two years ago about having spent "about 1 billion KRW (~694k USD) on plastic surgery," clarifying, "It was not that much." She also shared, "My daughter Haim wears double eyelid tape and seems satisfied with it. I am in favor of my daughter getting plastic surgery, but Jung Suk Won is against it. We would need permission."
