Former AOA member and actress Kwon Mina has spoken out about suffering second-degree burns following a skin treatment, revealing that the incident triggered panic attacks and forced her to postpone scheduled activities.
On January 8, Kwon Mina shared a lengthy post on Instagram detailing her experience. She wrote, “On January 24, 2026, I suddenly had many good opportunities and plans scheduled from late January through February. Wanting to look better, I received 600 shots of a Shrink lifting procedure under sedation.”
Along with her statement, she posted photos showing severe burns on both cheeks and her neck. She described the moment she woke up after the procedure, saying, “When I opened my eyes, I felt a tearing pain in my skin. I was crying and asked to see a mirror. My skin had peeled layer by layer from the burns, curling upward, and there was discharge and blisters. It was truly devastating.”
Kwon Mina further claimed that proper consent and explanations were not provided. “Since last month, they didn’t ask me to sign a sedation consent form, a procedure consent form, or even about photo documentation. I also never received a skin consultation or diagnosis before the procedure,” she alleged. “They said I couldn’t sign consent forms every time because I had signed one in October 2025. But since I had different procedures each time, I never received guidance or consent forms specifically about Shrink, its effects, or side effects.”
She continued, “The effects and side effects are bound to differ. They said they never violated medical law. If that’s the case, then maybe they didn’t. I don’t know. Because of this, I started having panic attacks. My mom eventually saw the condition of my face and cried. I’ve been apologizing every day while postponing or canceling schedules, and I ended up in tears.”
Expressing uncertainty about her recovery, she said, “I have no idea when the burn treatment and scar treatment will end. I’m so upset that I have to miss all these opportunities. Why do chances that never came before show up at a time like this? I don’t even understand why my life is going this way. Is being born a sin? I now know how painful deep second-degree burns really are.”
She also mentioned ongoing legal matters, adding, “In the case that’s been on trial for over four years, I’m the victim. In this civil or criminal lawsuit as well, I’m the victim. At this point, I honestly feel envious of perpetrators. I wish our country’s laws would consider the dignity of victims just as much as that of perpetrators.”
Kwon Mina debuted as a member of AOA in 2012 and left the group in 2019 to pursue acting. In recent years, she has openly shared her struggles, including childhood domestic violence, severe financial hardship, alleged school bullying and sexual assault, as well as difficulties she experienced during her time in the group, raising concern among fans.
