An individual identified as A, who claimed allegations regarding the private life of actor Lee Yi Kyung, has shared updates on the police investigation.
On February 9th KST, A posted a statement on their X (formerly Twitter) account, saying, “The reason I had not issued a separate statement was because I had been cooperating with the Korean police investigation.”
A continued, “Because Korean laws and procedures differ from those of other countries, I had concerns about how this might place me at a disadvantage. However, after much consideration, I decided to cooperate with the investigation in order to explain that this matter is true.”
Currently residing overseas and unable to visit Korean investigative authorities in person, A said, “I am continuing to cooperate with the investigator in charge through non-face-to-face methods.” A added that materials related to their identity and all evidence currently in their possession have been submitted to investigators, noting, “The investigation has been ongoing for more than a month and is taking considerable time.”
A also disclosed screenshots of emails exchanged between themselves and the investigator at Seoul Gangnam Police Station from December 31st to the 4th. In the emails, A wrote, “I am willing to cooperate sincerely with the investigation, and it is also possible to proceed via video call. I will follow the specific procedures and schedule as guided by the detective.”
A emphasized, “Even if it takes time, I plan to cooperate sincerely until the end and await the results. Once the investigation is complete, I believe the investigative authorities will clearly determine who the person in the materials is.”
A further added, “Related communication records will remain, and those accounts were indeed used.” A concluded, “Even if it takes time, I sincerely hope the truth of this matter will be clearly revealed.”
Previously, in October of last year, A released messenger screenshots allegedly containing inappropriate conversations with a man and claimed that the man was Lee Yi Kyung.
In response, Lee Yi Kyung’s side stated the claims were “groundless” and began legal action. His agency said, “We recently visited Seoul Gangnam Police Station and completed the complainant statement process. We are proceeding with a complaint on charges of blackmail and defamation through the spread of false information.”
