JINI is making her first steps as an actress through the upcoming film ‘Boy.’
Taking the lead role of Jane in the movie, ‘Boy’ has already garnered critical attention ahead of its premiere, having been officially invited to the ‘35th Fancine (Fantastic Film Festival of the University of Màlaga)’ in Spain.
Set in the near-future fictional city of Pogu, ‘Boy’ is a neon-noir film centered around events occurring at "Texas Hot Springs," a dystopia for abandoned people. It depicts a story where a single instance of love destroys all order in a world dominated by control and violence, all portrayed through a sensible and aesthetic visual style.
In the film, JINI plays Jane, a new resident of Texas Hot Springs who triggers the destruction of the existing order. Jane enters this dangerous place in search of her mother and becomes a central figure who drives the tension of the plot by changing the behavior of the area's young boss, Rohan, played by actor Jo Byeong Gyu.
Reports suggest that JINI successfully handled a wide emotional range, portraying everything from a girl longing for her mother’s love to a tough survivor enduring a harsh environment. Through her first film challenge, JINI is expected to make her mark as a lead actress by delicately illustrating Jane’s multi-dimensional character.
JINI, a former member of the group NMIXX, has previously engaged in diverse activities, including the release of her first solo mini-album, ‘An Iron Hand In A Velvet Glove,’ and participating in "Starlight," an OST for the popular webtoon ‘No Office Romance!.’
Meanwhile, the movie ‘Boy,’ starring JINI, is scheduled for a theatrical release on the 14th.
