Sung Si Kyung offered a playful apology for the naming of his new KBS2 program, 'The Seasons - Sung Si Kyung's Gomak Namchin'.
During a press conference held on March 27, 2026 KST, producer Jung Mi Young admitted that the title, which literally translates to "Eardrum Boyfriend," was a "desperate measure" to attract public interest for the series. Sung Si Kyung humorously noted that after three rounds of discussions with the production team, he personally approved the title and thus accepted full responsibility for the resulting mixed reactions to the name.
Sung Si Kyung emphasized that he prioritized the substance of the program over its title, believing that a high-quality production would eventually justify its name to the audience. He admitted to feeling a certain pressure to maintain a four-syllable title, following his previous popular labels such as 'Mi So Cheon Sa' and 'Mo Deun Sun Gan'. He clarified that the term 'Gomak Namchin' is intended to highlight the vocal talents of his musical guests—referring to them as "honey-voiced" male, female, or band performers—rather than serving as a self-aggrandizing nickname for himself.
The show's premiere is scheduled for 10 PM KST on March 27, 2026. Sung Si Kyung shared that while he initially felt hurt and reflected on why the title drew such criticism, he decided to channel his energy into the musical integrity of the performances. The first episode features a high-profile lineup including Lee So Ra, YB, Kim Jo Han, Jung Seung Hwan, and Kwon Jin Ah. The production aims to uphold the legacy of the network's late-night music talk shows by delivering refined live sets and engaging artist interviews.
