Actor Jang Geun Suk is joining 'Director's Arena', an exciting new survival show for directors.
The production company, Epic Storm, shared the news today. They explained that his deep acting experience will be a huge help in finding and supporting new directors. This is a happy return for Jang Geun Suk, who teamed up with VAST Entertainment last June to focus on Korean movies and TV shows again.
'Director's Arena' is a unique survival show made to discover the next great directors. The show focuses on the fast-growing short-form drama market. Chosen directors will make their own short dramas and compete against each other. This fresh idea is very different from normal TV shows and has already caught a lot of attention.
The main rule of the show is that directors must compete using only 2-minute short dramas. The winners of each round get money to make their next project. The final winning works will become regular dramas on Lezhin Snack, a new short-video platform by Lezhin Entertainment.
Last month, famous actor Cha Tae Hyun and hit movie director Lee Byung Hun also joined the show. In a teaser video, they used a funny line from the popular movie 'Extreme Job', saying, "There has never been a TV show like this before."
'Director's Arena' will air its first episode on the ENA channel on May 15.
