ENHYPEN member Jake has proven his further growth as a musician.
On January 20th KST, Jake appeared on 'LeeMuJin Service', which was uploaded to the KBS Kpop YouTube channel. During the episode, he shared behind-the-scenes stories from the creation of “Sleep Tight,” his first self-composed track included on ENHYPEN’s seventh mini album 'THE SIN : VANISH', while also showcasing his impressive vocal skills through live performances of six songs.
Jake stripped back the original’s rich arrangement and performed “Sleep Tight” accompanied solely by piano. Blending a groovy rhythm with his signature trendy vocals, the stage drew full attention to his voice alone. He explained the hidden meaning behind the lyrics, saying, “ENGENEs often tell me, ‘Don’t even dream—just sleep well,’ as a way of looking out for my health. I wanted to say the same thing back to ENGENEs, but in reverse.”
Jake also reinterpreted a wide range of songs in his own style, including Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself,” which he sang at his audition, Corinne Bailey Rae’s “Like A Star,” Leellamarz’s “On the Street,” Colde’s “Warr,” and Bazzi’s “Young & Alive,” highlighting his broad musical spectrum. After listening to Jake’s performances, Lee Mu Jin praised him, saying, “Even just from his voice, you can picture a good-looking person,” and added, “There’s a youthful charm in the way his distinct tone is layered over careful, precise pronunciation.”
In addition to “Sleep Tight,” Jake also participated in producing “Trigger,” another track on 'THE SIN : VANISH'. He emphasized his passion for creating music, sharing, “I want to continue working on music,” and “While working on THE SIN : VANISH, I felt the thrill that comes from creative challenges.”
Meanwhile, ENHYPEN released their seventh mini album 'THE SIN : VANISH' on January 16th and are currently promoting actively.
